As the sun sets Friday, December 2, head to Post Office Square for the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting sponsored by Harborwalk Restaurant. Belfastians will begin gathering at 5:00 p.m. around the tree donated by Robbins Lumber. Attendees will enjoy carols performed by local school choirs and can sip on hot chocolate provided by the Belfast Community Co-op. Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on a Belfast Fire Department engine to greet the hundreds of eager children and adults. Mayor Eric Sanders will lead the countdown from 10 till the tree lights magically come on.
