Auction Items from Previous Years

1. Boating ‘round Belfast Bay on Front Street Shipyard’s Rubba Dubba: You and up to three friends will be thrilled by this three-hour adventurous cruise around Belfast Bay in Front Street Shipyard’s 26’ inflatable “Rubba Dubba.” With twin 150hp outboards and the shipyard’s president, JB Turner at the helm, your ride on “Rubba Dubba” is sure to be one you won’t forget.

2. Camp Forest – Week of summer camp: A wilderness camp that seeks to preserve, teach and honor primitive and wilderness living skills from around the world. Your child (age 7-17) can enjoy a week of summer day camp while learning much about the natural world, acquiring new skills and new making new friends.

3. Progressive Dinner for Two: Start with 2 margaritas and an appetizer at La Vida, proceed to the Harborwalk Restaurant for 2 entrees and a bottle of house wine, continue on to Delvinos for 2 desserts and coffees and cap off your evening with 2 drinks of your choice at Front Street Pub.

4. Spot in an Art Workshop with Susan Tobey White: Susan worked as an elementary art teacher for 15 years seeing close to 500 children a week.  Her love of bright colors she attributes to her exposure to the delightful creations of the children. Thirteen years ago she opened High Street Studio & Gallery in Belfast where she shows her work along with other guest artists.  Teaching is a passion that she continues by teaching workshops and classes in acrylics and watercolors.  She enjoys the challenges of commissions often painting children at play, beach scenes and couples dancing.  Susan holds classes throughout the year from her studio on High Street and the winning bidder will be able to sign up for a ($125) workshop.

5. Beautiful Bouquet Gathering at Chase’s Farm: On any two August Saturday mornings the highest bidder is welcome to come to the farm between 9 and 10am to pick their own bouquet of flowers. We will provide the bucket and clippers to borrow and a field of beautiful flowers. This is more about experience than product, though product is included. There is no instruction included, just some minimal direction.

6. Ice Cream Social For a Dozen at The Cool Spot: Included in this package is a sundae bar featuring a full selection of local-made Stone Fox Farm Creamery ice cream along with all the toppings (including the Cool Spot’s fabulous home-made hot fudge), plus coffee, tea and other hot beverages. 7. Northport Golf Club (Day pass for 4): Enjoy a foursome at the beautiful Northport golf Club., established in 1916! You and three friends can have a great morning or afternoon of golf, while enjoying this beautiful course, located on Bluff Road in Bayside.

11. Billiards with OTB Board Members: An evening to refine your pool technique with former nine-ball champion Tom Griffith at the home of Cheryl Morin in Belfast. Fun for any level of play, ideal for a group of 6-8 players. Peanuts and bar snacks provided, bring your own makings for a wet bar. If you have vinyl, bring that too- when you’re not up for a shot we’ll be spinning the turntable. A perfect way to while away a cold winter evening!

12. A Real Live Chicken: This Black and White Polish is about One Month Old! The Polish is a European breed of chicken known for its crest of feathers. The oldest accounts of these birds come from the Netherlands; their exact origins are unknown, however. In addition to combs, they are adorned with large crests that nearly cover the entirety of the head. This crest limits their vision, and as a result can affect their temperament. Thus, though normally tame, they may be timid and easily frightened. Polish chickens are bred primarily as a show bird, but were originally productive egg layers. Accordingly, Polish rarely go broody and are noted for their white eggs. Can we put a price on a living member of our community? Likely not, but what will your bid be?

14. Face Painting by Jennifer Howard: One hour of face painting provided by local child care provider and professional face painter Jennifer Howard. Add joy and excitement to a child’s birthday or improve the attendance at a business opening! Jennifer will bring her artistic talent, high quality materials, photos of her designs for reference and her bright smile along to your gathering! All face paints are hypoallergenic and easy to wash off. 1 hour = 5-10 full faces, depending on complexity.


15. Vintage Style Photo Portrait of Your Home: Charles Coombs was Belfast’s undertaker at the turn of the century as well as a pretty good amateur photographer. One of his favorite subjects was the fine homes of Belfast. Working with a view camera he made dozens of “house portraits” around town. If your bid wins this item, local photographer and Penobscot Marine Museum photo archivist Kevin Johnson will make a portrait of your home with his view camera and print it for you in a wet darkroom on silver gelatin paper or as a cyanotype if you prefer.


16. Experience the Timberwind: Two day sail tickets aboard the Timberwind, and a portable solar charger to take home at the end of the sail. Enjoy a two hour sail from Thompson’s Wharf in Belfast aboard the historic schooner Timberwind, led by Captain Lance Meadows and his experienced crew. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and beverages and all sails offer freshly baked bread and soup made daily on the old-fashioned wood stove for an additional $6.50 per person. 18. Two tickets to the Cellardoor “Harborfest on August 28th ”: You and a guest are invited to join an elegant evening of dinner and dancing overlooking spectacular Rockport Harbor.  The evening will feature the the culinary talents of Michael Salmon of Hartstone Inn, Lani Stiles of Megunticook Market, Chris Long and Shelby Stevens of Natalie’s, and Trillium Caterers, as well as live entertainment by Band Of New York and winner of America’s Got TalentLandau Eugene Murphy, Jr.

19. Custom Pendant or Brooch: Jennifer Lisa, owner of both Quench Metalworks and the shop Quench, will provide her design and metalsmithing skills to create a one of a kind, custom pendant or brooch in fine and sterling silver.  The winning bidder will provide several small mementos (buttons, fabric swatches, pebbles, sea glass, an old photograph just to name a few possibilities). In turn, Jennifer will hand fabricate a recessed sterling silver setting topped with a bezel set vintage pocket watch crystal (approximately 2″-2.5″) in diameter that will encapsulate the items.

Abigail Curtis has told the stories of Mainers for nearly 10 years at the Bangor Daily News, where she has won awards from the Maine Press Association and the New England Newspaper & Press Association. Her work also has been published in the Island Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle and Sierra Magazine.

24. Climbing Excursion in the Camden Hills: Join climbing instructor Sigrid Coffin on a 4-hour excursion in the Camden hills! This item includes all required equipment and no prior climbing experience is necessary. Sigrid is a certified Single Pitch Instructor with the American Mountain Guide Association, a Wilderness First Responder, and has climbed all over the world. She is always up for an adventure and can’t wait to show you the ropes!

Join Seth Thayer and Greg Tinder on a late-afternoon cruise out on the bay this summer and experience one of Maine’s greatest pleasures: the sunset over the bay! Joe will provide all equipment, instruction, and snacks. Beginners or veterans welcome. Joe particularly enjoys taking people who are a little hesitant to try this great sport. Instruction and tour will last approximately 2.5 hours. It’ll likely be a morning run and the date arranged will be weather and tide dependent. Behind the Scenes at Penobscot Marine Museum: In the 19th century, no town in the United States boasted more captains than Searsport, Maine and the Penobscot Marine Museum proudly celebrates this maritime heritage. Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes at a Museum? Want to see some items rarely on display to the public? Have an interest in the history of Penobscot Bay? Interested in historic maps and charts? Want to peruse some of the 30,000 glass plate images of the Eastern Illustrating Company with our photo archivist? Come join the staff at the Penobscot Marine Museum and see what treasures the Museum contains. Belfast’s own Kevin Johnson will share the story of the glass plate negatives currently being collected by the museum. You’ll receive a personal tour for up to four people through the historic sea captains’ houses and exhibits. Discover or rediscover this amazing treasure located in Searsport. Be sure to ask to see the whale’s eye lamp. Date will be arranged at a mutually convenient time.

32. 2 Nights on the “Steely Ann” Houseboat: Enjoy a stay on “Steely Ann,” Front Street Shipyard’s Steve White’s red container-built houseboat docked in downtown Belfast. The houseboat features two bedrooms (one with a queen bed and the other with a queen and a twin above), a full kitchen, bath, shower, and gas grill for outdoor dining.

33. How to Throw a Cocktail Party – A Master Class: You and a guest are invited to join Michael Casby and Abigale Avey of Trillium Caterers at their loft in downtown Belfast to learn the in’s and out’s of throwing a successful cocktail party, including tips on how to create hors d’oeuvres and batched cocktails that will allow you to be a host and a guest at your own party.

34. Be a Guest Conductor on the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railway: “All Aboard!” This is an opportunity for up to six guests to experience life on the rails. Act as a guest conductor and get a special guided tour of a working B&ML locomotive by the engineer. In addition, you will become an official honorary member of The Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railway. 37. Cooking Class at Salt Water Farm: Salt Water Farm is a recreational cooking school and farm located on the coast in Lincolnville, Maine. Their cooking classes explore fundamental skills in the kitchen and in their gardens, emphasizing the pleasure that comes from harvesting food from your own backyard. Students are guided through a variety of topics including simple knife and butchery techniques, cooking over a wood fire, and foraging for wild edibles along Maine’s rich seashore. All classes end in a communal feast around a farmhouse table.

Commemorate Your Big Day with Filmmaker, Ned Lightner: Ned Lightner is the owner of Insight Productions, a local video production company which recently produced the “Belfast, We Are Happy” video. He has over 20 years of experience in video graphic design and is a familiar face in the Belfast community. Ned is generously donating 3 hours of videography and editing. This could be used to make your own video Christmas card, record a birthday party or a sports activity, or whatever event in your life you want memorialized.
