“Since attending Unity College over a decade ago, I have enjoyed spending time in Belfast and greater Waldo County. My family has roots in the area and we are thrilled to immerse ourselves in Belfast’s vibrant community. I am eager to meet and engage with local community members and dive into the work at Our Town Belfast. It’s an exciting time and I am committed to helping Belfast continue its success.”

Born in Russia, Sasha Breus moved to Maine as a toddler with her family and grew up fishing and camping on Blue Hill Bay. At Smith College, Sasha studied geology and played ultimate frisbee, both of which afforded her multiple opportunities to travel. After working as a teaching assistant and researcher at Harvard University for four years, Sasha left to pursue a master’s degree at Antioch University New England. There she studied environmental education and worked as a peer writing coach. Sasha moved back to Maine in 2016 and started a consulting business focused on non-profit evaluations, editing, and grant writing. Sasha is excited to continue to develop roots in the greater Belfast area through her position at Our Town Belfast and as a volunteer at The Game Loft. Sasha also loves food, gardening, and playing outside year-round.
