Belfast Maine’s Beloved Broke-Neck Santa

The History

Vintage ornaments have been strung downtown during the holiday season by the Belfast Fire Department starting in the 1980’s. The star of the show, who arrived with the name Cletus, has become something of a legend due to his pose. Now known as Broke-Neck Santa, he reminds us to stay jolly—even when losing our heads!

In 2018, Broke-Neck Santa was the feature of a Bangor Daily News Article by Abigail Curtis.
