Join Annie Chavez in Fiddlehead’s sunny new classroom space to make a simple quilt top using a small fat quarter bundle.
Annie’s Step Quilt
Ever wonder what can be made from a fat quarter bundle? Annie has your answer! Utilizing simple piecing and clever construction, the Step Quilt will come together simply to create a visually engaging quilt top, perfect for beginners and experienced sewists. Whether you’re a first timer wanting to learn the ropes of putting together a quilt top or simply wish to add a quick and easy method of utilizing up fat quarters to your skill set, this class will delight and inspire you.
Please note:
this class is for constructing a quilt top, not a finished quilt. Students will receive printed instructions for the quilt top to take home.
Materials to Bring:
*You will need 6 fat quarters total. Bring a bundle or a stack of loose fat quarters you love. If you would like help picking out your fat quarters, bring a mix to the classroom and Annie will help you design a quilt top that will shine!
A Note on Materials:
The classroom is equipped with many of the above materials (rotary cutters, scissors, acrylic rulers) and students are welcome to use them as needed, though these tools will be shared amongst the group. We encourage students to bring their own *labeled* tools if they have them so that as much of your class time can be spent working as possible.
Experience Level
Beginner. Students must have a basic understanding of machine sewing. You will be using a rotary cutter and ruler to cut your strips, and a basic straight stitch on the machine.
