Belfast Summer Nights: Mondaynite Jazz Orchesta (MOJO)
August 11 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
If you’ve been around mid-coast Maine the last decade you’re probably familiar with Mondaynite Jazz Orchestra, better known as Mojo to us fans. For the uninitiated Mojo is a super 18-piece band reminiscent of the classic swing bands of the 1940s- think Glenn Miller, and Duke Ellington, with lots of modern songs added in for fun and excitement.
Next Thursday, August 11, Mojo once again brings all those horns, drums guitars, and singers for our yearly romp through the ages at Belfast Summer nights. Opening for Mojo is my friend Michael Cressey, a former Belfastian singer-songwriter
who has been penning great tunes ever since I met him 45 years ago. This past year he wrote a humdinger, Tough Town, about the Belfast so many of us remember from the Chicken days, No way Belfast Summer Nights can pass that up! Michael will be backed by two Belfast Summer Nights’ long-time favorites, Willy Kelly and David Lewis. Come and hear Michael’s songs and ponder how we as a community have changed over the decades.
The show starts at 5:30 pm, Steamboat Landing park in Belfast. DO bring a picnic, something to sit on, friends and family, good attitude and dancing shoes. DO NOT bring your dog.
No admission is charged though we do pass the hat for free will donations. This concert is made possible with the support of First National Bank and First National Wealth Management, the City of Belfast, and our fiscal sponsor Waterfall Arts.
