Join Isabelle Maschal O’Donnell for an afternoon of learning how to translate an image into a work of embroidery!

Build Your Stitch Sampler Library with Isabelle

Learn how to translate images of flowers, animals, or your favorite objects into embroidery. Students will learn methods for filling and building color to create shading and dimension, and how to use different embroidery stitches to create varied textural effects.

Materials to Bring:

• An image (or images) that your embroidery will be based on
• Sketchbook or blank paper
• Erasable graphite pencil
• Transfer materials appropriate to your fabric: transfer pen, chalk pencils, Sulky Fabri-Solvy, Sulky Stiffy, and/or Sulky Soft ‘n Sheer (available for purchase in the shop)
• Light to mid-weight woven cotton or cotton-linen blend fabric such as muslin,
• Bella Solids, Peppered Cottons, or Essex. (Fabrics should be washed and
• ironed for class.)
• Embroidery Hoop
• Embroidery needle pack size 3/9
• DMC 6 strand embroidery floss in a handful of colors (available for purchase in the shop)
• 1.25 yards of 11mm Twill Tape (available for purchase in the shop)
• Embroidery scissors, optional
• Needle threader, optional
• Needle Minder, optional
• Thimble, optional

Experience Level

Confident beginner, but must have some basic embroidery experience.
