In Concert: Québécois Trad Power Trio Genticorum
March 2 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm$15 – $35
The Belfast Flying Shoes dance series and Waterfall Arts are thrilled to welcome to Belfast one of the top bands on the Québécois traditional music scene. Over the past decade and a half, Genticorum has produced five CDs, played hundreds of concerts in some 20 countries, and earned four Canadian Folk Music Awards. Renowned for their stunning musicianship and resonant vocal harmonies, the trio root their sound in the driving rhythms of the Québécois musical vernacular, which they infuse with a raw, joyous energy all their own. Come out on this winter night and let our northern neighbors put a warming smile on your face.
“[This] is the beauty of Genticorum. Their joyous attack on any subject is transformed by their overall energy and style of playing. It’s feel-good music that transcends any lyric and the chance to see these merry wizards deliver the goods live is about as good as music gets.” —Roots Music Canada
–Yann Falquet—guitar & bass
–Nicholas Williams—flute, piano & accordion
Sound provided by Eric Weest Johnson
In addition to the concert, Genticorum will present a muscians’ workshop on Thursday, Feb. 28 (6:30 pm at the Waterfall Arts Fallout Shelter, 256 High St. in Belfast) and will provide music for the Belfast Flying Shoes Contra Dance (8 pm Friday, March 1, at the Belfast American Legion Post, 143 Church St. in Belfast).
