Linda Holmes – Author, NPR Cultural Critic, Podcaster at Left Bank Books

June 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free event; reservations are recommended!

If you’re looking for a lively, entertaining, and witty way to spend an evening, join us to welcome the multitalented Linda Holmes, author of Evvie Drake Starts Over and Flying Solo (two of Nancy’s favorite summer reads). Both novels take place right here in midcoast Maine (you’ll recognize Camden, Rockland, and Wiscasset) where Linda’s family used to vacation. She says that our part of Maine is “a place I really love…It’s very special to me, and every time I’ve been back I’ve thought about setting a story in and around the towns that dot the coast.”

Both books feature women who are facing crises in their lives—one is leaving an abusive husband, the other is recoiling from a canceled wedding. Through grit, a healthy dose of humor, and a mix of bad and good luck, both emerge stronger and happier.

Linda is widely known for her work as host of “Pop Culture Happy Hour,” the NPR roundtable culture and entertainment podcast, and she’s worked on many NPR shows including “All Things Considered,” “Morning Edition,” and “Wait Wait, Don’t tell Me.”

Linda is a talented writer with a gift for writing natural dialogue, humor, and plumbing her characters’ doubts and perceived failings. She draws her readers in from the get-go and gives them a terrific, light, memorable ride from start to finish. Learn more about Linda on her website.
