This class is part of a 3-week series of book arts classes that will cover various techniques and materials including Decorative Paste Papers, Japanese Books, and Long Stitch Books. Each class will focus on a different topic, while we learn the basics of book binding vocabulary and a bit of book binding history. Students can register for each class separately, but are also encouraged to come to all three! Additional workshops are November 4 and November 11.
In the third session, students will learn the vocabulary, tools & material of hand book binding a Long Stitch Book. They will create a multi gathering book with many fun uses. Participants will experiment with the challenge of sewing a book with a very long thread. We will also explore the importance of sewing station jigs in creating the text block and cover.
Tools & materials provided.
