Panel Presentation on Lyme Disease prevention and treatment

May is Lyme Disease Awareness month and the Belfast Free Library will host a Lyme and tick-borne disease educational panel featuring Dr Elizabeth Yori, ND of Heritage Natural Medicine, Paula Jackson Jones, President & Co-founder of Midcoast Lyme Disease Support & Education (MLDSE) and Paul McFarland, Owner of Tick Talk Maine. The panel presentation will take place Tuesday May 21st at 6:30pm.

The panel will cover tick species in Maine and the diseases they carry, how to protect yourself against having a tick encounter as well steps to take if one is bitten by a tick; from risk exposure to diagnosing to treatment. The deer ticks are out and increasing in numbers! This free presentation is a good opportunity to get informed.

Dr Elizabeth Yori, is the current President of the Maine Association of Naturopathic Doctors (MAND). Her interests include family medicine, herbal medicine, hydrotherapy, nutritional and mental health counseling and working with chronic disease and chronic pain. She has a practice in Belfast, Maine.
Paula Jackson Jones, President & Co-Founder of Midcoast Lyme Disease Support & Education(MLDSE). A native of Nobleboro, Maine, Paula is a survivor of Late Stage Neurological Lyme Disease and co-infections, misdiagnosed by twenty-three doctors and specialists. In 2014, she co-founded MLDSE with Angele Rice, a Lyme survivor from Bath, Maine. It was during her own battle that she noticed a need for information and connection to resources in Maine that wasn’t easy to find. Year round, MLDSE raises awareness, fosters education, advocates for change at local, state and federal levels and provides free resources and support to those afflicted by Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease here in Maine.
Paul McFarland, owner of Tick Talk Maine, company that helps people enjoy their time outdoors by drastically reducing the number of ticks on their property. His studies and training allow him to apply treatments that are safe for use around people, pets and plants, while detrimental to the tick population.
