Our Town Belfast will be hosting a free family-friendly four-part outdoor movies series to be shown at Steamboat Landing Park (34 Commercial Street) on a 20-foot inflatable movie screen. Movies will be shown on two dates in July and two in August for our inaugural year. Outdoor events have been and continue to be seen as some of the safest ways to rebuild neighbor and community relationships. We are planning for a safe, socially distanced, outdoor family film series for Belfast.

The story is a classic tale of love and adventure as the beautiful Buttercup is kidnapped and held against her will in order to marry the odious Prince Humperdinck, and Westley (her childhood beau, now returned as the Dread Pirate Roberts) attempts to save her. On the way, he meets an accomplished swordsman and a huge, super-strong giant, both of whom become his companions in his quest to rescue Buttercup.

As they travel down Oz’s Yellow Brick Road to find the Wizard and ask him to send them home, they encounter a wonderful, funny, terrifying and, ultimately, enlightening group of characters, human and otherwise. This 1939 award-winning film classic (Best Score and Best Song Academy Awards) is a perennial favorite that has recently been meticulously restored.
