Our Town Belfast will be hosting a free family-friendly four-part outdoor movies series to be shown at Steamboat Landing Park (34 Commercial Street) on a 20-foot inflatable movie screen. Movies will be shown on two dates in July and two in August for our inaugural year. Outdoor events have been and continue to be seen as some of the safest ways to rebuild neighbor and community relationships. We are planning for a safe, socially distanced, outdoor family film series for Belfast.

A kindly grandfather sits down with his grandson and reads him a bedtime story. The story is one that has been passed down through from father to son for generations. As the grandfather reads the story, the action comes alive. The story is a classic tale of love and adventure as the beautiful Buttercup is kidnapped and held against her will in order to marry the odious Prince Humperdinck, and Westley (her childhood beau, now returned as the Dread Pirate Roberts) attempts to save her. On the way, he meets an accomplished swordsman and a huge, super-strong giant, both of whom become his companions in his quest to rescue Buttercup.

A young farm girl and her little dog are magically transported into the enchanted land of Oz via a Kansas tornado. As they travel down Oz’s Yellow Brick Road to find the Wizard and ask him to send them home, they encounter a wonderful, funny, terrifying and, ultimately, enlightening group of characters, human and otherwise. This 1939 award-winning film classic (Best Score and Best Song Academy Awards) is a perennial favorite that has recently been meticulously restored.
