The health and number of Maine’s bird populations have been in the news quite a bit lately. Nicholas Lund, Maine Audubon’s outreach and network manager, will give a presentation on the topic on Tuesday, January 21, at the Belfast Free Library. The program is titled, “The State of the Birds: Decades of Change.” It is free and open to the public. Completing an Advanced Health Care Directive is a gift for you and your family. Are you procrastinating having the conversation? Unsure of how to start? The Belfast Free Library and Belfast Garden Club will cosponsor a program on the advantages of using native groundcovers to replace “un-used” areas of lawn on your property. Writing the Personal Essay

“Writing the Personal Essay” will be offered on Saturday, February 1 from 10:00 to 2:30, with a half hour bag lunch break, at the Belfast Free Library. Poet and essayist Linda Buckmaster will lead the workshop made possible by a grant from the Maine Humanities Council. The event is free and open to all. Registration by January 27 required.
